I recently visited and hiking the Linville Falls after Hurricane Florence and was not surprised to see that the effects of the storm were evident in the area. The trails had a few wash outs but it was the storm debris that was piled up at the upper falls that was amazing. The storm swept downstream tons of water and debris which destroyed the concrete and rock wall safety barriers. One could imagine the amount of force it would take to do such damage. But I am sure after a few days of clean up by the great park service and many volunteers, the falls will once again be perfect for viewing.
If you are in the Boone/Blowing Rock area, take advantage of the the quick trip to the falls, it is well worth the effort and the of course the scenery is breathtaking in its majesty. Did I mention, free?
